Progress Report , 3-12-10

1. Mathematical Methods
  • How did you "generalize?" i generalized by picking any numbers and using my volume equation to figure out my length width and height. Whatever my x was that was my width , and whatever my w= h+? was equalled to my height. I found my volume by using my equations (130-4x)*x*x and (108-4x) *x*x. I found my girth by multiplying my width * width * height * height.
  • How did you set up your axes when graphing? It depended on what my x and volume was and how high the numbers went to when the numbers decreased.
  • How did you organize your data into different tables? i organized my data in different tables by each table having it own equation wether it being 130 or 108 and wether it was fed ex ground or fed ex express. I seperated my graphs into columns , x, girth, width, height, length, volume, and my maximum height.

3. Process and Solution
  • Clearly communicate your findings. What did you discover when you put all your findings together?  I didnt get to finish my graphs so i dont know what my results are but as soon as i finish i will post what my findings are.

  1. I really like the use of ? in place of a variable.

Girth is not found by multiplying width, width, height, and height.

Please use an example to explain how you set up the graphing axes.

You explained that the tables were separated by different shipping methods, but you did not discuss the other reason.

Did you get to compare any results? You did not need graphs to compare the maximum volumes.

  2. sorry its width + width + height + height is how you find the girth
